US FOL volunteers at local school

Volunteers from the U.S. Forward Operating Location spent several hours refurbishing classrooms for students at Goslinga School in Otrabanda, Curacao, July 8, 2014. Twenty-nine volunteers landscaped, moved furniture, installed windows and reconstructed damaged facilities. The aim of the project was to refurbish two classrooms to create vibrant, spacious, safe and effective learning environments in preparation for the upcoming school year. Volunteers from the US FOL donate time and resources to various areas and programs on the island in order to express appreciation for the wonderful hospitality received from the citizens of Curacao. USFOL volunteers at Betesda Nursing Home

Six female volunteers from the U.S. Forward Operating Location spent several hours at Betesda Nursing Home in Betesda, Curacao, July 1, 2014. The volunteers offered the female residents a relaxing morning of manicures and spoke to the residents about life, family and culture, bringing the warmth of friendship directly to elders with one-on-one interaction. This informal volunteer partnership with Betesda helps emphasize a continuum of care for the Curacao senior community. Volunteers from the US FOL often donate time and resources to various areas and programs on the island, in order to express appreciation for the wonderful hospitality received from the citizens of Curacao. USFOL paint school building in Curacao

Volunteers from the U.S. Forward Operating Location (USFOL) continue to serve various community projects on Curacao. Twenty-two volunteers spent several hours in the afternoon of June 20 putting fresh coats of paint on the school building located in Otrabanda. This project was done in partnership with the Goslinga school administration and teachers. Equipped with paint, rollers, and brushes, the volunteers painted the interior and exterior of school in preparation for the 280 students that would return for the next school year. The men and women working at the USFOL are frequent volunteers in the local community and this was another outstanding effort in building friendship with the citizens and expressing appreciation for the wonderful hospitality received from the citizens of Curacao. USFOL volunteers at Siloam Village Orphanage and Hospice

Twenty volunteers from the U.S. Forward Operating Location in Curacao went to the Siloam Village Orphanage and Hospice, June 5, 2014. USFOL volunteers spent two hours caring for the children, demonstrating and reinforcing the USFOL’s compassionate image and leaving a lasting, positive imprint on the community. The USFOL also donated funds to support the purchase of clothes, shoes and hygiene items. Personnel from the USFOL often donate time and resources to various programs on the island in appreciation for the hospitality extended to them by the citizens of Curacao.
