Lieutenant General Gabriel García was born in Ambato on April 27, 1964.
He graduated as a Pilot Officer from the "Cosme Rennella Barbatto" Military Aviation School and holds a bachelor’s degree in military Aeronautical Sciences. He also earned a master’s degree in strategic security studies from the Army Polytechnic School (ESPE).
Throughout his military career, Lt. Gen. García completed various training programs, including pilot officer training, aviation safety in the United States, aviation physiology in the Chilean Air Force, aircraft accident investigation in the United States, and airport security, among others.
His exceptional dedication and service to the Ecuadorian Air Force have been recognized with prestigious decorations, including First, Second, and Third-Class Decorations from the Armed Forces, the Peruvian Cross of Aerial Merit at the Commander level, the Santos Dumont Merit Medal, and the Condor of the Andes at both Knight and Commander levels. He is also a graduate of the First-Class War Academy, has received the Grand Collar of Military Merit, and has been awarded the Grand Cross of Military Honor, as well as the Military Honor Cross.
Lieutenant General Gabriel García has held a variety of key positions during his career, including Airport Chief in Macas, Subdirector of the Air War Academy - FAE, Air Attaché to the Ecuadorian Embassy in Peru, Commander of Transport Wing No. 11, Inspector General of the FAE, Director of the Integrated Security System of the Armed Forces, Director of Air Operations of the Armed Forces, Commander of the Aerospace Military Education and Doctrine Command, Director General of Human Resources for the FAE, Chief of the General Staff of the FAE, and currently serves as the Commander General of the Ecuadorian Air Force.
