  • Hunter laid to rest after 50 years MIA

    U.S. Air Force Col. Edgar “Felton” Davis, an RF-4C Phantom navigator during the Vietnam War, was laid to rest after 50 years deceased with full military honors April 6, 2018, in his hometown of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Davis was shot down over Laos Sept. 17, 1968 during a reconnaissance mission while assigned to 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron under the 432nd Tactical Reconnaissance Wing and was declared deceased when the first search for his remains yielded no results. The Defense Prisoner of War/Missing In Action Accounting Agency discovered Davis’ remains in December 2017.

    Two F-35 Lightning II's assigned to the 56th Fighter Wing have landed in South America for the 2018 Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio marking the first time the F-35 has been to South America.
  • US, Salvadoran airmen share night vision knowledge

    Partner nation service members participated in a Subject Matter Expert Exchange at the 357th Fighter Squadron’s aircrew flight equipment shop, March 6-8. The exchange focused on the night vision goggles calibration, preventative maintenance and storage, as well as, the aircrew flight equipment shop structure. Two El Salvadoran Air Force aircraft mechanics and two U.S. Air Force aircrew flight equipment craftsmen shared knowledge through the mission planner who was able to interpret the information between the airmen.
  • 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) Air Force Section Chief Theater Security Cooperation Workshop

    The workshop brought key personnel together to discuss strategy and to plan fiscal years 2019-2021 events in 12th Air Force’s (Air Forces Southern) Area of Responsibility. Seventeen Air Force Section Chiefs, fourteen National Guard Bureau State Partner Program representatives, as well as, air advisors from the 571st Mobility Support Advisory Squadron, officials from U.S. Southern Command and Secretary of the Air Force International Affairs joined members of 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) for the workshop.
