AFSOUTH welcomes new command chief

A new command chief has taken on the role of senior enlisted adviser at 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern).

Chief Master Sgt. Calvin D. Williams, an Alabama native who has been serving in the Air Force for 24 years, comes to 12th AF (AFSOUTH) after completing a 365-day tour in Kabul, Afghanistan, as the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 9th Air and Space Expeditionary Task Force.

His role as the NAF's senior enlisted leader gives him the responsibility of ensuring the readiness of 10 active duty wings and one direct reporting unit for contingency operations. He also oversees 18 gained Air Reserve Component units totaling more than 818 aircraft with more than 65,000 Airmen.
