Warfighter of the week: Staff Sgt. Luke Carnathan

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz -- Staff Sgt. Luke Carnathan, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) spectrum manager, was recognized as the Warfighter of the Week, September 21, 2015.
Carnathan, a native of Lexington, Miss., has been serving in the Air Force for 10 years. After graduating high school, he knew that he wanted to be a part of something bigger than himself and decided to enlist in the United Sates Air Force.
As a spectrum manager, he is responsible for all Air Force frequency request and assignments in the AFSOUTH area of responsibility in support of operational requirements.
"Staff Sgt. Carnathan brings an exuberant, enthusiastic approach to being an Airman and epitomizes service before self," said Col. James Clark, 12th AF (AFSOUTH) communications director. "He's well-spoken and is ready at a moment's notice to hop on any chance to challenge himself, while also assisting others."
In his personal time Carnathan loves spending time with his wife and two kids, and also likes being a part of the community programs that promote spiritual wellbeing. He can often be found on the weekends mentoring young members of his congregation. He also likes to hike, camp, and hunt.
To be honest with you, I love being a part of things that are bigger then myself any opportunity I have to mentor or possibly help mold someone, I'm going to assists said Carnathan.
Continuing with his professional development as a noncommissioned officer, Carnathan has his eyes set on becoming a technical school instructor.
"I love to share the knowledge that I've been able to soak up over the years and I think that would be a great way to give back to an Air Force that has given me everything I could ever want and more," Carnathan said.
Warfighter of the Week is an opportunity for the Airmen throughout 12th AF (AFSOUTH) to share their story. The Warfighter of the Week intuitive also aligns with the 12th AF (AFSOUTH) commander's priority of creating a work environment where someone knows you both professionally and personally. These outstanding Airmen are selected by their directors based on their contributions to the Air Force's mission.
