Capt. Sabrina Gonzalez, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) Operations, plans and assessments, executive officer, was recognized as the Warfighter of the Week, August 10, 2015.

Gonzalez, a native of San Antonio, Texas, has been in the Air Force for 10 years and comes from a military family.

"The Air Force is all I've ever known, I've never considered doing anything else," said Gonzalez.

After commissioning, Gonzalez was trained as a missileier and served at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, and now Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, where she serves on a special duty assignment as an executive officer.

As an executive officer, Gonzalez manages assigned tasks for three directorates, while also managing the schedule of two directors. She also ensures all enlisted performance reports, and officer performance reports are completed and reviewed on time.

"Gonzalez is the type of person you want on anything that's important; she has a lot of energy and is a hard charger," said Mr. Thomas Schnee, 12th AF A3 chief of operations. "No matter what you ask her to accomplish, whether it be big or small, she will get the job done. "We need more people like her in our Air Force."

In the future, Gonzalez hopes to become a planner for United States Strategic Command and would like to spend more time with her family.

Those selected as the Warfighter of the Week, give a short presentation on the history of the 12th AF (AFSOUTH) and also share a little bit about themselves. Gonzalez was lucky enough to have her husband Capt. Francisco Gonzalez, 12AF (AFSOUTH) commanders action group, in attendance.

"I'm very happy for her, and all individuals chosen for the Warfighter of the Week," said Capt. Francisco Gonzalez. "I think being selected for something like this really shows the amazing things that the individuals of this unit are doing and also shows that our leadership notices it all."

Warfighter of the Week is an opportunity for the Airmen throughout 12th AF (AFSOUTH) to share their story. The Warfighter of the Week initiative aligns with the 12th AF (AFSOUTH) commander's priority of creating a work environment where someone knows you both professionally and personally.  These outstanding Airmen are selected by their directors based on their contributions to the Air Force's mission.
