AFSOUTH volunteers help celebrate local holiday

Children from the Fuik Children’s Center embrace a volunteer from the U.S. Forward Operation Location during their annual Sinterklaas Celebration Dec. 4, 2014. Eight volunteers from the USFOL visited the children and staff of the center, which provides a safe after-school environment for children, to decorate and assist with face painting. Sinterklaas is an annual celebration held the day before Saint Nicholas Day and includes gift giving and a visit from Saint Nicholas. Participating in activities such as these demonstrates the USFOL team’s desire for community involvement and their gratitude for the hospitality they receive from the citizens of Curacao.
