During April, families can expect to have an eventful month with the spotlight on children in the military. Families can join in on any of the events honoring the themes “Month of the Military Child,” as well as “Child Abuse Awareness Month.”

The “Month of the Military Child” recognizes the many sacrifices children make while also highlighting their contributions and their dedication in supporting their parents.

There will be two events honoring military children at Creech Air Force Base, Nevada. One event is a Spring Fling on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Creech members and their families with music, games, food and more. The second event, “Bring Your Child to Work Day”, will be held on April 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will feature live demos, an information fair, face painting, a parent dunk tank, and much more.

The second theme, “Child Abuse Awareness Month,” is a program created to raise awareness of child safety and well-being. As part of the efforts being made by the Nellis Family Advocacy Program, the base will hold several events this month to help educate military families. In addition to events, pinwheels for prevention will be placed around the base with the current slogan “Protect our children: Supervised, Save and Sound.”

Events in support of child abuse awareness include:

  • Love and Logic parenting class, April 7 and April 11 at the Nellis Air Force Base Mental Health Clinic. To register please call Family Advocacy at 702-653-3880.

  •  Family Advocacy information booth at the Nellis Base Exchange on April 8.

  • Family Advocacy information booth with children activities at the "Bring your Kids to Work Day" at Creech AFB, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
