More than 200 members of the Twelfth Air Force (Air Forces Southern) team participated in Sports Day here March 20.

This is the first time the U.S. Army's 1st Battlefield Coordination Detachment had the manpower to compete with a full team, and they won first place overall. Col. Gary Hisle, 1st BCD commander, accepted the trophy at the end of the day.

Master Sgt. Scott Griesheimer, 612th Air and Space Operations Center imagery support element NCOIC, coordinated the entire event with a few others. It took about four weeks to get everything set up.

"It went off flawlessly," he said. "It was a lot of fun for everyone. Ultimate Frisbee was the highlight; it came down to a lot of teams playing tough. That's the whole point of sports day - teamwork, physical fitness and a little friendly competition."
