U.S., Peru military medics, NGOs treat patients during New Horizons Peru
SAN CLEMENTE, Peru—Staff Sgt. Tomas Landaverde translates for Maj. Marc Boggy and a Peruvian woman during consultations at a medical readiness and training exercise here June 21. Air Force medical personnel are providing free medical care here as part of New Horizons, a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored humanitarian assistance and training exercise that takes place annually in Latin American and Caribbean countries. New Horizons Peru affords U.S. military medical personnel the opportunity to hone their skills and train alongside their Peruvian military counterparts. Landaverde is deployed to Peru from the 820th Red Horse Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Boggy is deployed from the 56th Medical Operations Squadron, Luke Air Force Base, Ariz.
