Operation Southern Partner

Majors Mark Gunst (right) and Joseph DuBose (left), staff surgeons with the 59th Surgical Specialties Squadron at Wilford Hall Medical Center, confer with doctors from the Chilean Air Force hospital in Santiago, Chile 5 Nov. The tour marks the end of the doctor’s exchange at Operation Southern Partner, an AFSOUTH-led event aimed at providing intensive, periodic subject matter exchanges with partner nations in the U.S. Southern Command area of focus. The all-new program features more than 70 U.S. Air Force subject matter experts from about 25 career fields working alongside partner nation military members in similar career specialties during week-long exchanges. Later, the Air Force doctors were able to sit in on a lecture where Chilean doctors evaluated different courses of action to treat patients. (Photo by Capt. Nathan D. Broshear)
