Operation Southern Partner

Majors Mark Gunst (right) and Joseph DuBose (left), staff surgeons with the 59th Surgical Specialties Squadron at Wilford Hall Medical Center, look over a recent x-ray with doctors from the Chilean Air Force hospital in Santiago, Chile 5 Nov. The tour marks the end of the doctor’s exchange at Operation Southern Partner, an AFSOUTH-led event aimed at providing intensive, periodic subject matter exchanges with partner nations in the U.S. Southern Command area of focus. The all-new program features more than 70 U.S. Air Force subject matter experts from about 25 career fields working alongside partner nation military members in similar career specialties during week-long exchanges. Later, the Air Force doctors were able to sit in on a lecture where Chilean doctors evaluated different courses of action to treat patients. (Photo by Capt. Nathan D. Broshear)
