Air Force teams with pros in baseball diplomacy
Airmen assigned to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., hand out Colorado Rockies tee shirts and backpacks to the children of Santiago, Chile. The Airmen and U.S. Air Force aircraft were part of FIDAE 2008, one of the largest combined air and trade shows, and for Exercise Newen 2008. The exercise builds the partnership between the U.S. and Chilean militaries. U.S. Airmen got to practice baseball diplomacy as well, in a friendly game that matched them up to the Santiago Metros, a 19-and-under squad filled with semi-pros. The Colorado Rockies donated items for the children, and the Air Force gave away memorabilia, as well as the game, to their opponents. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Jason Tudor)
