Commander meets NEW HORIZONS personnel and visits sites

U.S. Air Force Col. James Sheedy, 474th Air Expeditionary Group and 612th Theater Operations Group commander, U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Raymond Griego, 474th Air Expeditionary Group and 612th Theater Operations Group superintendent, and U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jaime Lewis, 12th Air Force first sergeant, from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., arrive via U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter to Puerto Castillo Naval Base in Trujillo, Honduras, as part of a visit to see NEW HORIZONS Honduras 2015 sites and personnel June 10, 2015. The visit included visits at the Honduras Aguan well site, the Gabriela Mistral primary school site and Dr. Salvador Paredos Hospital. “It’s incredible that we get the opportunity to come down and provide what we in the U.S. think of as simple clinic medicine is tremendous when these people can’t get enough medical care due to lack of resources, lack of doctors or lack of hospitals. It’s good that we get to help out and spread good will,” said Sheedy. Sheedy also visited exercise personnel at the Honduras Aguan well site, Gabriela Mistral primary school construction site, and saw the Dr. Salvador Paredos Hospital. Launched in the 1980’s, NEW HORIZONS is an annual joint humanitarian assistance exercise conducted by U.S. Southern Command with a partner nation in Central America, South America or the Caribbean. The exercise improves joint readiness training of U.S. and partner nation civil engineers, medical professionals and support personnel. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. David J. Murphy/Released)
