U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Ryan Elliott (left), 823rd Expeditionary RED HORSE Squadron deputy commander, out of Hurlburt Field, Fla., and New Horizons commander, meets with Department of Colón Governor Gisell Padilla in Trujillo, Honduras, May 30, 2015. Elliott, a Grove City, Penn., native, held the meeting in order to give local leadership the opportunity to meet and answer questions of various New Horizons personnel prior to the official start of the exercise. New Horizons was launched in the 1980s and is an annual joint humanitarian assistance exercise that U.S. Southern Command conducts with a partner nation in Central America, South America or the Caribbean.
