SOUTHCOM Combatant Commander visits AFSOUTH
U.S. Navy Adm. Kurt Tidd, U.S. Southern Command commander, is greeted by U.S. Air Force Col. Robert Stonemark, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) chief of staff, during the Tidd’s visit to 12th AF (AFSOUTH) at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., Feb. 23, 2016. Tidd assumed command of U.S. SOUTHCOM on Jan. 14, 2016 and is familiarizing himself with the various component services that make up a combatant command. U.S. SOUTHCOM is responsible for all Department of Defense security cooperation in the 45 nations and territories of Central and South America and the Caribbean.
