A B-1B Lancer from the Air Force’s 9th Bomb Squadron, out of Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, takes off at Naval Air Station Key West’s Boca Chica Field Aug. 23, 2016 in support of Joint Interagency Task Force South’s mission of detection and monitoring of illicit trafficking. Last week, the Air Force deliberately increased its aircraft operations in support of JIATF South in an effort to leverage multi-domain operations, which integrates information gleaned from intelligence, space and cyber domains in for a common objective. From March 2015 to April 2016 the Air Force conducted 278 hours of force-packaged counter-narcotics operations to assist the U.S. Coast Guard and Partner Nations in the interdiction of 14 metric tons of cocaine worth about $437 million.
