Lt. Gen. Chris Nowland, former commander of Twelfth Air Force (Air Forces Southern), thanked the Airmen for their hard work and dedication to the mission during the Twelfth Air Force (Air Forces Southern) change of command ceremony Oct. 3, 2016, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. During the ceremony Lt. Gen. Chris Nowland relinquished command to Lt. Gen. Mark Kelly. Air Forces Southern serves as the air component to U.S. Southern Command and is responsible for providing air and space capabilities in support of U.S. military partnerships across Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
